Blackstone Talent Group, an award-winning technology consulting and talent agency is seeking a Senior RF Hardware Engineer-P3 - Cleared Off-Site to join our Client's team.


We currently have an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced RE Engineer/Systems Engineer/Hardware Engineer to provide engineering analysis, baseline management, operations and maintenance, system enhancement, and integration support. This position will be with the engineering team and responsible for ensuring successful operation, maintenance, and sustainment of the hardware associated with a complex high priority operational communications system. Responsibilities include establishing requirements for new system hardware enhancements, supporting efforts for new capabilities, and development and refinement of operational/engineering processes and procedures.


Within the small 20-person team, the Systems Engineer/Hardware Engineer will be expected to have the technical skills to troubleshoot, document, and resolve system outages and other issues that may be encountered during operation of the system. This includes the collection of diagnostic data, accurately documenting problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools, restoring system operation, development of workarounds, and other activities necessary for recovery of the system. The Systems/Hardware Engineer will provide support to include storage, retrieval, and manipulation of data for analysis and troubleshooting of system capabilities and requirements; utilize analytic devices such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers for troubleshooting; monitor functioning of equipment and make necessary modifications to ensure the system operates in conformance with specifications; support the generation of concept of operations (CONOP) and provide recommendations for system architecture. This is a small engineering team, and we are looking for an individual who enjoys a challenge and is willing to learn and grow within a multi-disciplined contract.

Education Required:

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)

Years of Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience

Required Skill Sets:

  • Ability to support occasional travel, both CONUS and OCONUS
  • Ability to support emergency repair trips with little or no advanced notice
  • Ability to provide occasional after-hours call-in support
  • Ability to work at heights and successfully complete safety requirements for antenna/tower training
  • Active and transferable TS/SCI with Polygraph U.S. Government-issued clearance required prior to start date
    • Ability to obtain Special Program Access prior to start date
  • Prior experience supporting Operations & Maintenance (O&M) ground systems engineering activities for a satellite communications system
  • Experience generating, analyzing, tracking, and managing requirements
  • Experience with systems engineering activities including:
    • Developing and maintaining schematics
    • Performing analysis
    • Creating block diagrams
    • Managing system Bills of Materials (BOMs)
    • Preparing design review packages

Desired Skill Sets:

  • Experience influencing design performance and cost trade-off studies for proposed engineering changes
  • Ability to contribute effectively on design teams and provide technical insight to team members
  • Ability to apply previous knowledge and experience to:
    • Recommend new operational concepts
    • Support architecture development
    • Increase efficiencies within existing systems
  • Experience supporting design performance and cost trade-off studies for engineering changes
  • Proficient use of:
    • Spectrum Analyzers
    • Network Analyzers
    • Signal Generators
    • Oscilloscopes
  • Experience working with vendors for the timely repair and tracking of critical operational hardware
  • Experience upgrading hardware supported by Windows and Linux-based systems
  • Previous experience working with systems supported by Linux operating systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical ability to identify and document system capability enhancements through:
    • White Papers
    • Technical submittals
    • Engineering documentation
