Senior Risk Analytics Consultant (Merchant Services)

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Risk Analytics Consultant to leverage data, advanced analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML) to assess credit and fraud risks, enhance risk reporting, and support business growth while safeguarding the payments ecosystem. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, expertise in risk management, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Risk Assessment & Analytics

• Analyze merchant data to assess credit risk and fraud risk for underwriting and ongoing monitoring.

• Identify emerging fraud patterns and risk trends using advanced analytics.

• Utilize machine learning models, statistical techniques, and predictive analytics to enhance risk

• assessment.

• Develop and refine risk scoring models to automate decision-making and improve risk controls.

• Reporting & Insights

In this role, you will:

• Lead or participate in moderately complex initiatives, and delivering insight and decision strategies within analytics and reporting, and contribute to large-scale planning related to Risk Analytics
• Review and analyze moderately complex data aggregation, forecasting, reporting, and programming models
• Be responsible for process production, data reconciliation, and model documentation in alignment with policy governance
• Resolve data, production, business modeling, and lead team to meet Risk Analytics deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of risk reporting policies, modeling strategies, procedures, regulatory requests, and compliance requirements
• Collaborate and consult with peers, experienced managers, compliance, and technology to resolve modeling, forecasting, and production issues, and achieve analytic and reporting goals
• Lead projects, teams, and mentor less experienced staff
• Partner with cross enterprise risk analysts in development of common modeling strategies

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of Risk Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

• 3 years of payments industry/merchant services experience
• Strong experience in data analytics, risk management, and reporting in a payments or financial services environment.
• Proficiency in AI/ML, SQL, Python, R, or other data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of merchant services, credit risk, fraud risk, and payments risk mitigation strategies.
• Experience with risk modeling, machine learning, or predictive analytics is a plus.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to balance business growth with effective risk mitigation strategies.
