Founded in 1925, Volkert is celebrating a century of serving our employees, clients, partners, and communities.We are currently searching for an experienced Senior Roadway Engineer/Project Manager to support our East Gulf Region located in Birmingham , Huntsville, and Tuscaloosa, AL .To be considered for this position, applicants musthave, at minimum, 10 years relevant experience in roadway design.What You'll Be DoingProvide plan review and project management for the ALDOT and/or the local municipalities in this regionResponsible for organizing activities, schedules, and reporting in support of assigned projectsPrepare, issue and track project documentation such as contracts, change orders, client sign-off, etc. for all phases of assigned project workPrepare correspondence and documents with clients, vendors and regulatory agencies as requiredAssist with other documents such as invoices and purchase orders; and communicate with outside resources when neededPreparing and/or editing meeting minutes and presentationsAssist with project submittals and bidding activitiesProvide support to project team as requestedSupport our team and client by providing technical and administrative supportMarket local municipal clientsPerforms other duties as assignedWhat You Need To HaveBS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university10 + years relevant experience in roadway designMust have proven skills in meeting DOT expectations, schedules, and budgetsALDOT experience is requiredPE requiredExperienced in DOT design methods, plan preparation, standards, and specificationsDemonstrated capabilities and success in managing medium to large projects, multi-office projects, and/or multiple projectsProven leadership, communication, mentoring and client liaison skillsProficiency with OpenRoads preferred, Geopak expertise requiredStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
