Major/Essential Functions
- Inspect work areas, research areas, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with TTU safety standards and governmental regulations.
- Manage EH&S related inventory and survey information through safety software used by the department
- Effective use of communication to ensure a smooth inner working department and constructive relations outside of the department.
- Determine the root cause of incidents and assess ways to improve safety at TTU going forward.
- Use analytical equipment to assess hazards, test safety equipment, or perform air quality monitoring.
- Provide assistance to lab personnel as needed to maintain optimum safety conditions in the form of consults, training and education, and supplying EH&S-provided resources.

Preferred Qualifications
Completion of a bachelor's degree in a health and safety-related field or minimum of four years of equivalent job experience. Holds a certification from a nationally recognized organization such as CHST, OHST, CHMM, ASP, CSP, or CIH. Knowledge of the practical application of science, engineering, and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, and procedures. Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state and government regulations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions. Demonstrate a capacity and initiate for continuous learning of job-related skills.

Required Qualifications
Proficiency in a STEM-related field reflected by completion of a bachelor's degree or a minimum of two years of STEM college-level coursework and four years of equivalent job experience in a professional setting. Knowledge of federal and state laws and systems associated with health and safety regulation. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and perform basic math. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate ideas clearly and concisely.
