Purpose
The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Senior Sr. Safety Specialist is responsible for leading, coordinating, and implementing all applicable Federal and State Environmental Health and Safety regulations as well as compliance with internal Astellas standards. Based in Cambridge, MA.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Drive improvements in site EHS culture awareness and accountability
- Lead efforts to operationalize EHS at sites
- Ensure site personnel understand and comply with all environmental permits
- Plan and conduct EHS training
- Oversee compliance assurance program, perform site audits, and work with management team to implement corrective actions
- Conduct incident/accident investigations and develop corrective and preventative action plans
- Maintain EHS expertise to provide technical and regulatory support to Operations team
- Maintain site EHS metrics and work cooperatively with EHS management on various projects and initiatives, including:
• Culture change
• Safety inspections
• Chemical waste management
• Environmental regulations
- Understand regulatory changes and trends and forecast site impacts
- Actively contribute to the direction and content of site EHS programs
Working Relationships
- Must demonstrate effective communication and develop working relationships with:
• Senior management
• Front-line supervision
• Other employees
