Position Overview

The City of San Diego's Department of Information Technology (DoIT) is seeking a highly experienced Senior SAP Developer with expertise in ABAP, Neptune, SAP Fiori, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and SAP S/4HANA development to support one of the most sophisticated municipal SAP ERP environments in North America.

This role is responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, integrating, and supporting custom SAP solutions across the City's enterprise ERP landscape while helping modernize the platform as the organization transitions from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud

The successful consultant will work alongside ERP Functional Analysts, Basis Administrators, Security Administrators, Integration Developers, Business Process Coordinators (BPCs), and City stakeholders to build scalable enterprise applications supporting Finance, Utilities, Human Resources, Procurement, Enterprise Asset Management, Payroll, Budgeting, Public Utilities, Transportation, Environmental Services, and numerous City departments.

This is a senior technical development position requiring extensive experience building enterprise-grade SAP applications, modern UI technologies, cloud extensions, mobile applications, API integrations, and performance-optimized custom development using SAP best practices and Clean Core principles.

The City of San Diego's ERP Division supports more than a dozen City departments through a centralized SAP ERP platform. The current environment includes SAP ECC on HANA with a strategic roadmap to SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud by 2030.

Position Summary

As a Senior SAP Developer, you will design, develop, test, implement, and support enterprise SAP applications while driving modernization efforts utilizing SAP Fiori, SAPUI5, Neptune, RAP, CDS Views, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).

This role requires a hands-on technical leader capable of developing highly scalable SAP solutions while mentoring junior developers and collaborating closely with business stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
