Senior Scheduler

A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Scheduler to take ownership of scheduling operations and serve as the company's scheduling subject matter expert.

This is a senior-level leadership opportunity reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Construction. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing complex construction schedules independently, a strong understanding of construction sequencing, and the ability to lead and mentor other schedulers.

This is not a schedule maintenance or updating position. We need someone who can take a set of drawings, specifications, or even conceptual project information and independently develop a complete, accurate Critical Path Method (CPM) construction schedule with minimal direction from Project Managers or Superintendents.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently develop comprehensive CPM construction schedules from drawings, specifications, and conceptual project information.

• Establish project sequencing, activity durations, milestones, dependencies, and critical paths.

• Serve as the company's subject matter expert on construction scheduling and best practices.

• Lead, mentor, and review the work of other schedulers to ensure accuracy and consistency.

• Work directly with executive leadership, Project Managers, and Superintendents to establish realistic project timelines.

• Analyze schedule performance, identify potential delays, and develop recovery strategies.

• Review and evaluate project schedules for constructability, sequencing, and potential risks.

• Provide scheduling guidance and recommendations throughout preconstruction and project execution.

• Develop and maintain scheduling standards and processes across multiple projects.

• Communicate scheduling risks, progress, and recommendations to senior leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience in construction scheduling with a commercial general contractor.

• Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Project is required.

• Proven ability to independently build complete CPM schedules from the ground up.

• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and project execution.

• Experience developing schedules directly from construction drawings, specifications, and conceptual information.

• Ability to determine realistic activity durations and project dependencies with minimal input from field operations.

• Experience reviewing, overseeing, or leading the work of other construction schedulers.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with executive leadership.

• Experience managing schedules for complex commercial construction projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Construction Superintendent.

• Background in commercial construction field operations or project management.

• Experience overseeing scheduling across multiple projects.

• Experience developing company-wide scheduling procedures and standards.
