In this laboratory-based position, the primary responsibilities will involve applying techniques/strategies of organic synthesis in design and development of practical process for new resins and photopolymers.You will drive our discovery forward through executing experiments, maintaining detailed scientific records, and reporting those results to the broader team. You will assist in developing departmental strategic plans and policies while also analyzing, proposing, and establishing objectives of each project with specifications, timing, budget, milestones, and decision points.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
• May include developing practical procedures in separation/purification of organic compounds; to elucidate/analyze molecular structures of new compounds/resins/polymers; to evaluate physical and mechanical properties of formulated compositions; accordingly, also to provide guide in maintaining some of laboratory equipment such as NMR, FITR, HPLC/GPC and Photo DSC and Photo Rheology.
• Experience in Resin production, testing, transfer and scale-up
• Project management responsibilities include development from ideation to technology transfer. Preferred experience in managing small to medium scale projects across innovation & scaling technologies to manufacturing. Surveillance of projects assigned to other to assure program progress and the application of sound principles and evaluation procedures are maintained.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities (if applicable) in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Ability to effectively work with outside consultants and vendors.
• Awareness of competitive products and ability to contribute to new technology.
• Associate is responsible to complete all necessary training on pertinent Global, Divisional and Departmental procedures and maintain a Training Log documenting successful completion of each procedure. In addition, the associate must apply what was learned during training to ensure quality products are produced.
• Must maintain concise and accurate records of activities in laboratory notebook.
• Work practices and procedures meet Dentsply Sirona’s Standard Operating Procedures for design, commercialization and manufacture of medical devices.
• Conduct mechanical / physical property testing of dental materials and possibly biocompatibility testing to generate documentation to support and substantiate new products and / or process improvements.
• Provide verbal and written reports of activities to senior chemist / scientist. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel proficient.
• May be called upon to communicate results within RD and to departments outside R&D, such as, Quality Assurance, Technology Transfer, Marketing or Engineering.
• Conduct literature / web-based searches with guidance of supervisor to assist in designing experiments, developing test methods, and finding sources for experimental materials
• May be involved in training other R&D associates as well as associates from external departments such as QA to use new techniques or processes.
Requirements
Education:
o Master’s degree in life science or related field with at least 5 years of relative working experience
o PhD strongly preferred with background in polymer chemistry or materials science
Years and Type of Experience:
o Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in synthesizing polymers or production process of resins
o Minimum of 3 years experience managing small to medium scale projects across innovation with experience scaling technologies to manufacturing

o Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents and respond effectively to sensitive inquires or complaints
o Strong written and verbal communication with ability to effectively partner with key stakeholders cross functionally across multiple time zones
