As a NA Confections R&D food scientist, you'll be a key champion of the brand's consumer experience, ensuring the iconic line-up of candy, delight and captivate our consumers every day. You'll focus on driving product quality and consistency, while adapting to evolving consumer preferences and production constraints. Working with a fast-paced cross-functional team, you'll have a chance to be at the forefront of key efforts across innovation, quality improvements, capacity expansions and sustainability for the brand. How you will contribute
You will work independently and with a cross-functional team to plan, lead and coordinate technical projects in line with R&D, regulatory, marketing and manufacturing requirements. You will effectively communicate status & risks and plan, lead, & coordinate pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In addition, you will plan, lead, & coordinate development activities (e.g. product shelf-life testing, designing for quality, consumer test preparation. etc.). To provide direction for product development, you will use digital simulation models to understand and interpret consumer insights and commercial information. In this role, you will create and maintain accurate consumer-led specifications and be responsible for stakeholder management and influencing decisions based on conclusions made from analysis and interpretation of results.

What you need to know about this position:
The candidate will be responsible for delivering a variety of projects within the North America Confections portfolio (Halls Over-the-Counter Drug and Dietary Supplement Products, with potential to work on Sour Patch Kids, & Swedish Fish), such as maintaining and optimizing products, supporting capacity expansion efforts, and delivering against quality and margin management goals.
The candidate must be versatile, able to work in cross-functional teams, and be capable of working proactively across multiple projects. The candidate should be able to leverage experts/partners to ensure compliance to documentation, shelf life, regulatory requirements for NA, FTO/IP, and confidentiality requirements.

Travel up to 30%, to locations in Canada, US, Turkey, and Mexico.
Work schedule:
This is a full-time role based in East Hanover, NJ with in-office expectations of 3-5 days per week.
Salary and Benefits:
The base salary range for this position is $86,900 to $119,515; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education and location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
