Senior Security Engineer

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Security Engineer. This is a full time role with Kforce's client. The role requires hybrid work and can be based in Chicago, New York, Indianapolis, or Phoenix.

Summary: The Senior Information Security Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced security solutions across the enterprise. This position leads complex initiatives-from securing cloud environments to strengthening enterprise-wide defenses against evolving threats. The engineer reviews and enhances security architectures, guides junior team members, and ensures that all systems, upgrades, and migrations adhere to modern security standards and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement security solutions that support a defense-in-depth and zero-trust strategy
• Contribute to the design and execution of complex security projects
• Install, configure, maintain, patch, and troubleshoot security tools and infrastructure, including SIEM, SOAR, WAF, PAM, firewalls, and secure web/email gateways
• Conduct routine configuration reviews of security technologies against industry best practices, vendor guidance, and internal baselines
• Create and maintain documentation such as network diagrams, architectural diagrams, data flow maps, and internal procedures
• Train security team members on new technologies and serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point
• Participate in and lead security incident response activities as defined in the organization's incident response plan
• Act as the senior technical resource during triage and communicate effectively with leadership during incidents
• Partner with Governance, Risk, and Compliance teams to document procedures, gather evidence, and articulate cybersecurity standards and practices
