LOCATION: Public Safety

STARTING HOURLY RATE: Minimum of $19.52 hourly, depending upon education and experience, GE

POSITION PURPOSE: Serves under the Chief as lead worker to Public Safety personnel to maintain security and safety of student, faculty, staff, and all campus areas. Assist with scheduling and supervision of the safety department; enforce parking and traffic regulations; patrol buildings and special events and respond to emergency situations and alarms; prepare reports and maintain records; monitor building conditions using electronic control equipment; conduct investigations and apply law enforcement measures; train new employees; assist and direct students, staff, and public with general information; and other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

  • methods and procedures for crime and fire prevention;
  • law enforcement procedures;
  • security techniques;
  • training methods.

Ability to:

  • operate communication systems and surveillance systems;
  • operate patrol vehicle and ATV;
  • maintain strict confidentiality;
  • remain calm under stressful situations and maintain accuracy of work;
  • communicate information clearly and concisely in person and/or on the telephone, exercising tact, patience, discretion, and professional demeanor with people of varying backgrounds and temperament;

COMMENTS: Evening, weekend and holiday work required. Driver's license is also required.
