Description
THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL
Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Security Systems Technician with programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting capabilities and experience. This position will work closely with our sales team, field project teams, and clients to ensure a sound design, and seamless installation and commissioning of our security system solutions. This is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of executing projects. Customer and employee interface requires a high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are important elements of the position.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (and doing well!)
Review system layouts and coordination with engineering, project management, and sales departments for successful project execution.
Install, program, and commission access control, CCTV, and voice and data systems via laptop computers.
Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
Responsible for programming, commissioning, and final acceptance by customers, engineering forms and end users.
Perform complex troubleshooting and enact effective resolution.
Deliver projects on schedule and within cost budgets.
Manage project and vehicle inventory.
Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other technicians.
Demonstrate proper operation of equipment and control units to customers, including instructions and how to respond to any system signals.
Communicate and coordinate with onsite contractors.
Interact with the owner's representative for testing and to resolve any minor issues related to a security system final test.
Make field decisions related to the installation of items such as audible and visual notification and detection placement.
Take ownership of onsite project(s) including safety, quality, and performance.
Comply with industry standard procedures and Sciens safety programs/policies.
WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU
High school diploma or equivalent.
Five (5) or more years of experience in a technician role within the building security systems industry.
Knowledge of current security systems including access control, CCTV, and voice and data systems.
Ability to program and commission mid-range to complex security systems.
Advanced computer knowledge related to use, installation, and programming software.
Independent ability to program the security system manufacturer's product platform(s).
Ability to terminate security control units and field equipment without supervision.
State, local, contract, and/or product specific certifications determined by the business.
Ability to read security system design drawings for installation and programming purposes.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.
Ability to work independently with some supervision.
Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 certification.
Customer-focused; skilled in project and people management.
Proficient in issue resolution.
Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills
Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; able to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday.
Ability to travel occasionally overnight, as needed.
Able to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.
Valid driver's license & reliable transportation.
