STAND 8 provides end-to-end IT solutions to enterprise partners across the United States and globally, with offices in Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, Mexico, India, and more.

We are seeking a Senior Service Assurance Engineer – Dark Fiber Remediation with a strong focus on OTDR analysis and OSP (Outside Plant) Design/Engineering. This role is critical in supporting high-priority customers by ensuring rapid diagnosis and resolution of complex dark fiber issues at the physical layer.

This position requires deep expertise in fiber network design, OTDR trace interpretation, and OSP infrastructure, combined with strong troubleshooting and customer-facing skills. The ideal candidate will bridge design, testing, and operations, driving efficient resolutions while proactively improving service delivery readiness.

Location & Work Type

  • Location: Mexico
  • Work Type: Remote

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage fiber service assurance tickets end-to-end, ensuring timely resolution, accurate documentation, and proactive communication
  • Perform advanced OTDR trace analysis to identify faults such as attenuation, breaks, reflections, and splice or connector issues
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot dark fiber (Layer 1) issues, including mispatching, signal loss, and physical layer inconsistencies
  • Interpret and validate OSP designs, fiber routes, splice diagrams, and construction documentation
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to review and correct fiber design discrepancies, ensuring alignment between design and field implementation
  • Develop and execute structured troubleshooting and remediation plans across internal teams, customers, and third-party vendors
  • Coordinate and guide OSP and ISP field technicians, providing precise technical direction based on OTDR results and design analysis
  • Analyze fiber infrastructure including circuit routing, path diversity, and construction standards to identify risks and failure points
  • Create and update fiber design schematics, KMZ files, and scopes of work for network redesign or restoration efforts
  • Lead high-priority incident bridges, performing root cause analysis and driving resolution under tight SLAs
  • Proactively validate service delivery prerequisites, including fiber test results and design readiness, to prevent escalations
  • Communicate complex technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of telecom experience with strong exposure to fiber networks and OSP engineering
  • Proven expertise in OTDR testing, trace interpretation, and fiber test validation
  • Hands-on experience with fiber design and OSP infrastructure, including routes, splicing, and construction methods
  • Proficiency with tools such as Exfo FastReporter, Anritsu NetWorks, or similar fiber test analysis platforms
  • Experience with Salesforce, M6/MetaSolv, GE Smallworld, myWorld, or similar inventory and design tools
  • Strong ability to interpret and produce fiber diagrams, Visio designs, and Google Earth KMZ files
  • Deep understanding of fiber types, splice enclosures, connectors, and termination practices
  • Knowledge of inside plant environments, data centers, and cross-connect operations
  • Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments
  • Excellent communication and customer management skills, including conflict resolution and expectation management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in OSP network design and engineering workflows, including permitting and construction support
  • Field experience with fiber testing, cleaning, patching, and connector troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with design validation versus as-built discrepancies
  • Ability to visualize and reconstruct physical fiber paths from OTDR traces and network diagrams
  • Exposure to network automation or inventory integration platforms
