Job Description:

Dewberry is seeking an experienced Senior Site/Civil Project Manager for our Gainesville, VA office. This is an opportunity to lead impactful site/civil design projects within the land development, commercial real estate, and data center markets, influence strategic growth, and help shape a high‑performing team serving mostly private-sector clients. Responsibilities:

 

  • Ability to mobilize, energize, and organize cross-functional teams for success in winning and delivering complex projects
  • Strategic thinker, bringing market facing ideas, strategies, and expertise to decision-making and strategic planning
  • Highly motivated to achieve business goals while at the same time investing and building for longer term growth and stability
  • Ensure all operational activities conform to and integrate with organizations requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal compliance, and general policies and procedures

Project & Technical Leadership 

  • Lead teams in all aspects of site/civil design including site layout and planning, grading, stormwater management, erosion & sediment control, utilities, roadways, and permitting 
  • Manage the design and delivery of multiple, concurrent projects 
  • Ensure project quality, schedule, and budget expectations are met.

Client Engagement & Business Development 

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and agency staff 
  • Participate in public and construction meetings as needed 
  • Support business development, marketing efforts, and proposal preparation 

Team Development 

  • Oversee, mentor, and train junior and mid‑level team members 
  • Help foster a collaborative, learning‑focused team culture 
Required Skills & Required Experience:
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field 
  • Minimum 10 years of directly related experience
  • Virginia Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a consulting engineer including experience working with clients and projects in Prince William County and adjacent jurisdictions. 
  • Thorough understanding of the Northern Virginia market; strong relationships with decision makers in public agencies and/or relationships with private entities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple project assignments concurrently 
  • Desire to work in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment 
  • Experience working with clients and maintaining project budgets and schedules
  • Ability to provide technical expertise and guidance to design staff
  • Politically Astute
  • Strategic development and problem-solving skills plus goal driven energized by challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong trusting relationships
  • Ability to recruit, select, and develop staff

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $133,000-$171,000 in our Gainesville, VA office.
