Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist
Location: Oak Creek, WI
Job Type: Long-Term Contract
We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Safety & Health Specialist for a long-term contract opportunity in Oak Creek, WI. This position will lead and administer site-specific Safety & Health programs for a heavy construction project, working closely with project management, field personnel, subcontractors, and client safety representatives to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Responsibilities
Lead and implement project-specific Safety & Health policies, procedures, and programs.
Provide Safety & Health leadership and guidance to project management and field teams.
Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, state, local, and project-specific safety requirements.
Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, walk-throughs, and compliance assessments.
Identify unsafe conditions or work practices and coordinate timely corrective actions.
Exercise stop-work authority when conditions present an immediate danger to life or health.
Work with project management to investigate safety concerns and develop measures to prevent recurrence.
Coordinate directly with client Safety & Health personnel and subcontractor safety representatives.
Review project activities before work begins to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate controls.
Lead and document project Safety & Health training as required.
Review near misses, property damage, environmental incidents, and accident investigation reports and recommend corrective measures.
Maintain required Safety & Health records and documentation in an audit-ready condition.
Complete daily field Safety & Health reports and other required project documentation.
Prepare safety communications and correspondence to reinforce project safety expectations and goals.
Provide recommendations regarding project Safety & Health challenges, objectives, and continuous improvement opportunities.
Travel or drive to project locations as required.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with 7+ years of construction safety, general industry safety, or construction management experience.
Associate degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with 9+ years of relevant experience.
High School Diploma/GED with 11+ years of construction safety, general industry safety, or construction management experience.
Additional Requirements
Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction and General Industry regulations.
Working knowledge of applicable ANSI, NIOSH, USACE EM 385-1-1, and NEC standards.
OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach training required.
Strong understanding of heavy construction site safety practices and hazard recognition.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability and willingness to work various project schedules as required.
Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
Ability to effectively work with project management, field personnel, clients, and subcontractors in a heavy construction environment.
