Role Summary:

The Sr. SOC Operations Controller is a subject matter expert responsible for ensuring schedule integrity while assigning aircraft to all flights and supporting customer operations during routine and non-routine operations. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgement to make decisions in aircraft assignments and routing while mitigating guest impact and providing recommendations to address Maintenance & Engineering, Flight Operations, Stations, and other business requests.  

Key Duties:
  • Takes initiative to develop solutions and make operational decisions pertaining to aircraft rotation and tail number assignments according to aircraft capability, flight crew qualification, and route limitation.  
  • Makes recommendations pertaining to flight cancellations, flight delays, added flights, or modifying the routing of flights.  
  • Exercises judgement to make decisions to align aircraft according to operational specifications established by Maintenance, Dispatch, Flight Operations and Marketing during normal and abnormal operations.  
  • Applies deep knowledge to provide SOC decision support through data collection using multiple computer systems, programs, and formats.  
  • Performs irregular operations entries in various systems and formats and ensure the entries are made accurately and in accordance with company policy and procedure.  
  • Facilitates and communicates operational decisions according to the position requirements.  
  • Loads, audits, and optimizes the daily flight schedule in the Horizon Air computer systems.  
  • Supports SOC decision makers during irregular operations and assists in mitigating guest impact with a focus on customer service.  
  • Applies knowledge of customer service policies and procedures to support frontline employees in delivering consistent service.  
  • Communicates with individuals across the organization regarding guest impact and operational decisions.  
  • Develops and manages execution of guest recovery plans and coordinates across multiple workgroups.  
  • Serves as the advocate for internal and external customers in the decision-making process.  
  • Oversees delay coding activity and supports trend analysis to identify operational improvements.  
  • Initiates programs such as EFI, Extended Tarmac Delay, and related communications as required.  
  • Reviews and recommends procedural changes as needed.  
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills:

Required 

  • 4 years of aircraft operations experience which may include SOC, Station/Ground Ops, Planning, or a combination of these.  
  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.   
  • Superior decision-making, cross-departmental coordination, and efficient utilization of operational resources.  
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to manage job related programs.  
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.  
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.  
  • Self-starter able to deal with high-pressure situations.  
  • Maintain peak performance in a fast-paced and stressful work environment.  
  • Ability to work a variety of schedules including weekends and holidays.  
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task.  
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an absolute.  
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.  
  • Minimum age of 18.  
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.  

Preferred 

  • FAA Dispatcher License. 
  • 1 year of experience in an SOC position.

Salary Range: $84,900 -- $127,350 / year Salary Details:

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
