Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Software Asset Management (SAM) Consultant with over 15 years of IT experience, including at least 10 years specializing in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, Software Licensing, Software Compliance, and IT Governance. The ideal candidate will lead SAM strategy, establish governance frameworks, drive software optimization initiatives, ensure license compliance, and provide advisory services to stakeholders across IT, Procurement, Finance, Security, and Business units.

Responsibilities

• SAM Strategy & Governance: Develop and implement enterprise Software Asset Management strategies aligned with organizational objectives. Establish SAM governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures.
• License Compliance Management: Lead software license compliance assessments and internal audits. Manage vendor audits and mitigate audit risks.
• Software Optimization & Cost Management: Analyze software consumption and utilization patterns. Identify opportunities for software rationalization and license optimization.
• Vendor & Contract Management: Collaborate with procurement teams on software contract negotiations. Review Enterprise Agreements and manage software renewals.
• IT Asset Lifecycle Management: Manage software asset lifecycle from request through retirement. Ensure integration between SAM, ITSM, Procurement, CMDB, and Discovery tools.
• Audit & Risk Management: Prepare organizations for software vendor audits. Develop audit defense strategies and conduct internal compliance reviews.
• Cloud & SaaS Asset Management: Manage SaaS subscription optimization and monitor cloud licensing models.
• Stakeholder Management: Act as trusted advisor to senior leadership and present licensing risks, compliance positions, and optimization opportunities.
• Process Improvement & Automation: Design and implement SAM automation solutions. Develop KPI dashboards and executive reporting.
• Team Leadership: Lead SAM analysts and asset management teams. Mentor junior consultants and establish best practices.

Mandatory Skills

• Expertise in SAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM Pro, Flexera One, or Snow Software.
• Deep understanding of licensing models for major software vendors including Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, and SAP.
• Strong financial, analytical, and contractual review skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience managing large scale enterprise SAM programs.
• Strong understanding of ITIL processes.
• Experience supporting software audits from major vendors.
• Knowledge of cloud asset management and FinOps initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 15+ years of IT industry experience.
• 10+ years of Software Asset Management experience.
• Preferred certifications: IAITAM Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), ITIL Foundation, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals.

This position is suitable for roles such as Principal SAM Consultant, Lead Software Asset Management Consultant, SAM Architect, or Senior IT Asset Management Consultant supporting large enterprise and consulting engagements.


Fulltime: The pay range for this role is $160,000 - $180,000 per annum including any bonuses or variable pay.
