Senior Software Developer / Software Engineer (Contract)

Duration: Full-Time Contract – Initial 12-Month Engagement with Potential Extensions

Overview

Seeking a Senior Software Developer / Software Engineer to support the enhancement, maintenance, and ongoing operation of an existing enterprise application used to manage complex case evaluation and business processes. The application supports case tracking, reporting, invoicing, and operational workflows.

This engagement focuses primarily on enhancing and maintaining an established in-house application rather than building a new system from the ground up.

Project Scope

The organization is implementing several application improvements to increase efficiency, reporting capabilities, and accounting visibility. Key initiatives include:

Adding new accounting-related data fields
Enhancing application search functionality
Updating accounting screen layouts
Developing new reporting features
Creating invoice reporting capabilities
Providing ongoing maintenance and operational support
Responsibilities
Software Development
Execute development tasks from the product backlog
Design and develop application enhancements
Modify and improve existing functionality
Develop solutions using C# and ASP.NET
Work with SQL Server databases
Create and optimize stored procedures
Participate in application architecture and design discussions
Testing & Quality Assurance
Perform unit testing for assigned development work
Participate in acceptance testing activities
Resolve defects identified through QA processes
Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
Documentation
Document code changes and technical updates
Prepare written status reports
Provide verbal project updates to stakeholders and management
Team Collaboration
Participate in Agile development ceremonies, including:
Sprint Planning
Daily Standups
Sprint Reviews
Retrospectives
Collaborate with:
Software Developers
QA Analysts
Operations Teams
Business Stakeholders
Environment & Production Support
Coordinate deployment activities with operations teams
Support development, testing, and production environments
Assist with maintenance and operational support activities
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

MQ1: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in software development, systems analysis, design, and programming.

MQ2: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

MQ3: Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience with:

C#
ASP.NET

MQ4: Minimum of three (3) years of experience with:

Microsoft SQL Server

MQ5: Minimum of three (3) years of experience working within Agile frameworks, including:

Scrum
Kanban
Other Agile methodologies
Desired Qualifications

DQ1: Minimum of three (3) years of experience implementing data protection and security best practices, including work with Protected Health Information (PHI) or other sensitive data.

DQ2: Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with:

APIs
Integration platforms and toolsets

DQ3: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in one or more of the following:

Developing application solutions
Providing technical consulting on existing on-premises frameworks

DQ4: Minimum of three (3) years of experience with:

Writing stored procedures
Database performance tuning and optimization
Work Location

This position is primarily remote.

Requirements include:

Must reside within the continental United States
Offshore resources are not eligible
Occasional travel may be required based on business needs
Most work will be performed remotely
Potential Travel Expectations
Up to two (2) trips per quarter may be required

Travel destinations may include various organizational offices and operational facilities throughout California.
