Senior Software Engineer

Careerscape is recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing technology company in Austin, for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join their engineering organization. This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex, high-impact projects, shape technical direction, and mentor other engineers while working with a modern, cloud-based stack.

Day to day, you will move fluidly between deep coding sessions, architecture discussions, and code reviews, partnering closely with product managers and designers to turn ambitious ideas into reliable, scalable software. This role suits an engineer who is equally comfortable writing production code and guiding technical decisions, thrives in a collaborative hybrid environment, and enjoys solving problems that span the full stack.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend and frontend services
• Lead technical design discussions and document architectural decisions
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code across the stack
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to scope new features
• Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on best practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including on-call rotations
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and deployment processes
• Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives
• Evaluate new tools and technologies to improve engineering efficiency

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in one or more modern languages such as Java, Python, or Go
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong communication skills and ability to mentor other engineers
• Comfortable working in an agile, cross-functional team environment
