What You'll Be Doing
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable data processing systems and workflows.
- Build reliable ETL/ELT pipelines that support reporting, analytics, and machine learning applications.
- Take ownership of technical solutions throughout the development lifecycle, from initial architecture through deployment and ongoing improvements.
- Develop high-quality, maintainable code using Python and SQL.
- Implement automated testing, monitoring, and engineering practices that improve system reliability and performance.
- Work with APIs, event-driven architectures, streaming technologies, and concurrent processing techniques.
- Partner with engineering, analytics, product, and business teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Identify opportunities to simplify existing processes, improve data accessibility, and reduce operational overhead.
- Help establish reusable frameworks, documentation, and technical standards across the data engineering environment.
- Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions while supporting the growth of other engineers.
What We're Looking For
Software Engineering Expertise
- 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Advanced Python development skills and strong proficiency in SQL.
- Solid understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, testing methodologies, and clean coding principles.
- Demonstrated experience developing production-grade data pipelines and supporting them in live environments.
Data Architecture & Integration
- Experience selecting appropriate tools and technologies to solve complex data challenges.
- Strong understanding of data integration, transformation, orchestration, and processing.
- Familiarity with distributed or asynchronous processing, including APIs, streaming data, multithreading, or similar technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot performance issues and build effective monitoring and alerting capabilities.
Collaboration & Business Understanding
- Ability to independently evaluate technical requirements and recommend practical solutions.
- Comfortable working with both engineering teams and business stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, continuous improvement, and technical ownership.
- Experience balancing engineering priorities with business objectives.
Additional Experience That Will Help You Stand Out
- Exposure to machine learning infrastructure, AI applications, or production ML workflows.
- Understanding of how machine learning models interact with data platforms and downstream applications.
- Experience improving the performance, reliability, or scalability of existing data environments.
