Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform — Maritime Autonomy

Help turn streams of maritime sensor data into dependable datasets for machine-learning and perception systems. You will build the data platform that lets engineers process live signals, revisit historical recordings and understand exactly which data informed a model or evaluation. The work spans software infrastructure, dataset quality and close collaboration with teams building autonomous systems.

Base salary range in the matching recruiter posting: $200,000–$240,000, plus equity

Responsibilities

• Build pipelines that ingest and process high-volume sensor and telemetry data for ML and analytics.
• Align and calibrate data from different sensors; support both near-real-time processing and repeatable historical reprocessing.
• Make datasets traceable through versioning, metadata and lineage so experiments can be reproduced.
• Create data-discovery interfaces and access patterns that help ML and perception teams find fit-for-purpose datasets.
• Measure data completeness and quality, investigate failures and improve reliability as data volume grows.
• Work with ML, hardware and product colleagues to translate changing model needs into durable data contracts.

Requirements

Must-haves

• Experience building and operating substantial data platforms, ML data infrastructure or large-scale processing pipelines.
• Strong Python skills and practical use of data-processing tools or libraries such as PyArrow, Polars, Pandas or NumPy.
• Experience working with sensor, time-series, audio, vision or similarly complex data.
• Understanding of dataset quality, reproducibility and access patterns for downstream users.
• Ability to own technical decisions and collaborate across software and ML teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with sonar, maritime systems, robotics, autonomy or other sensor-rich environments.
• Experience with orchestration, metadata or experiment-tracking tools.
• Experience with backfills, labeling workflows, data APIs/SDKs or storage optimization at scale.
