We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to develop and support embedded software for Communication, Navigation & Surveillance (CNS) avionics products used in commercial and defense aerospace applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in DO-178C compliant software development, embedded C/C++, avionics communication systems, and software integration with RF, FPGA, and hardware teams. This role requires experience throughout the software development lifecycle, certification activities, and leadership of technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate, and verify embedded software for avionics CNS products.
  • Develop software requirements, architecture, and detailed design documentation.
  • Implement embedded software using C, C++, and Assembly.
  • Develop software in compliance with DO-178C certification guidelines (preferably DAL A).
  • Participate in software planning, certification, and compliance documentation.
  • Perform peer code reviews and support software quality initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Hardware, FPGA, Systems, and RF Engineering teams during development and integration.
  • Support hardware/software integration, debugging, and validation activities.
  • Participate in flight test preparation and software integration activities.
  • Create and maintain wiring diagrams and support aircraft integration.
  • Utilize engineering tools including Jira, Bitbucket, build systems, compilers, and configuration management tools.
  • Lead software development activities and mentor junior engineers.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Support defense and aerospace customers during product development and certification.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 8+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • Strong programming experience in C, C++, and Assembly.
  • Experience developing safety-critical software under DO-178C.
  • Experience with DAL A software development.
  • Experience developing software requirements and design documentation.
  • Experience with software code reviews.
  • Knowledge of software architecture and embedded design principles.
  • Experience with Git/Bitbucket or other version control systems.
  • Experience using Jira and modern software development tools.
  • Experience with software build environments and compiler configuration.
  • Ability to work closely with Hardware, FPGA, and Systems Engineering teams.
  • Excellent debugging and integration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Communication, Navigation & Surveillance (CNS) avionics products.
  • Experience with:
    • TCAS / ACAS
    • Transponder
    • ADS-B
    • DME
    • UAT
  • RF software integration experience.
  • Exposure to DO-254.
  • Knowledge of DO-160G EMI/EMC requirements.
  • Flight test support experience.
  • Experience preparing certification documentation.
  • Experience supporting defense aerospace programs.
  • Technical leadership or team lead experience.
