Senior Software Engineer- Engineering Acceleration, Hyperscale Line Of Business

THE ROLE

The Hyperscale Line of Business at Pure Storage builds and ships exabyte-scale infrastructure with an emphasis on speed, reliability, and operational excellence.

As a Senior Software Engineer you will operate with a 90% hands-on coding focus. You will work at the heart of Engineering Acceleration: building and productizing the shared tools that make Hyperscale engineering teams faster and more effective. In this role, you'll design and build Python and C++ tooling for high-toil developer workflows, use AI-assisted development to iterate quickly as requirements evolve, and turn promising prototypes into supported tools that engineering teams rely on daily.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Developer Experience & Tooling (~50% Focus)

• Build shared tools for high-toil engineering workflows (triage, rebase/payload, release), taking them from prototype to supported, documented, and reliable.
• Use AI tooling to prototype and iterate rapidly, staying responsive to changing requirements.
• Use engineering metrics to diagnose workflow friction and directly improve developer velocity across the org.

Design & Reliability (~40% Focus)

• Strong design and architecture judgment so fast-moving tools stay maintainable, correct, and safe to depend on.
• Write robust software and implement clean interfaces (REST, gRPC, CLI) for the tools and services engineers use daily.
• Partner with Tech Leads and Managers to shape technical roadmaps for dev tooling.
• Mentor junior engineers, participate in deep code reviews, and establish operational excellence (incident response, change management, build observability).
• We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara office in compliance with Everpure's policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 6+ years of production software engineering experience (calibrated for MTS4/Senior level) in developer productivity, tooling, or platform engineering.
• Mastery of Python and C++ in production Linux environments. (Familiarity with Go or Java is a plus).
• Experience building internal tools or developer-facing software and turning prototypes into supported, shared tools, including containerization (Docker) for reproducible environments; fluent use of AI coding tools to move fast.
• Hands-on experience designing clean interfaces (gRPC, REST, CLI) for tools and services.
• Comfort using engineering metrics and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, fb303, scribe, t-digest) to diagnose friction and measure improvement.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
