Senior Software Engineer – Mainframe / COBOL / VSAM

A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Mainframe Cobol Programmer
Position Type: Contract
Duration: 12+ Months (Strong possibility of extension and potential conversion)
Location: Minneapolis, MN
As a Mainframe Cobol Programmer, you will:

• Support and maintain the Data Distributor, NOVA, and SD applications within the Core Deposits team.
• Modify existing COBOL programs to meet product and business requirements, including enhancements, fixes, and regulatory updates.
• Validate and distribute data to Hogan IDS, including nightly batch processing.
• Develop and maintain JCL for batch jobs and production workflows.
• Perform testing, validation, and production deployments following change processes.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with product and business partners.
• Support production issues and contribute to overall application stability.
• Mentor and help train junior engineers on Hogan and mainframe best practices.

 
The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong COBOL development experience in a mainframe environment – most critical skill.
• Strong understanding of and extensive hands-on experience with VSAM.
• Experience maintaining and enhancing legacy, highly customized mainframe applications.
• Solid understanding of JCL for batch processing.
• Experience with Endevor and other core mainframe technologies.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
• Solid coding foundation with the ability to learn and adapt within complex legacy systems.

PAY RANGE AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range*:  $52 -$57 per hour
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
