Senior Software Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a fast-growing client in the technology industry in the northern Virginia area The Senior Software Engineer will work in a fully remote environment with occasional travel for team meetups in the D.C. area. The Senior Software Engineer is ideal for an experienced full stack engineer with strong expertise in modern JavaScript frameworks, cloud infrastructure, and AI-driven development practices.

Responsibilities of the Senior Software Engineer include:

• Architect and develop scalable web, mobile, and platform-level services with a focus on performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability
• Utilize AI-enabled development tools to enhance engineering efficiency and output
• Contribute to early-stage system design decisions including service boundaries, event-driven architecture, and infrastructure strategy
• Collaborate with product teams to define MVP features, track user adoption, and measure business impact
• Strengthen engineering processes by improving CI/CD pipelines, code review standards, testing frameworks, and overall developer experience

Requirements of the Senior Software Engineer include:

• Bachelor's degree REQUIRED
• Ability to travel to D.C. for monthly team meetups
• 4+ years of full stack software engineering experience with strong proficiency in React, Node.js, and PostgreSQL
• Hands-on experience with AWS and building cloud-native applications
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools (such as Claude or similar) to enhance day-to-day development workflows
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and comfort with live coding environments
• Knowledge of application and infrastructure security best practices including OWASP and security testing tools (DAST, SAST, SCA)

Compensation for the Senior Software Engineer include:

• $160,000 - $180,000 annually

• Fully remote work environment with occasional travel
