***DEMO JOB POST***
About Dunder Mifflin
Dunder Mifflin, Inc. is a mid-sized paper company that stubbornly refuses to believe paper is dead. While tech giants push digital transformation, we're doubling down on the radical idea that people still need something to doodle on during meetings. Founded when trees were plentiful and computers were just fancy calculators, we've survived the digital revolution through sheer force of will and questionable management decisions.
The Role: We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Digital Transformation team. You'll be instrumental in dragging us into the 21st century while we maintain our death grip on the 20th.
What You'll Do
- Architect and build our e-commerce platform (turns out people don't want to order paper via fax)
- Modernize our inventory management system beyond Post-it notes on a whiteboard
- Lead the migration from Excel sheets to actual databases
- Mentor junior developers who think "legacy code" means last week's commits
- Collaborate with our sales team to automate processes and convince them computers aren't evil
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong expertise in modern web technologies
- Experience with large-scale systems architecture
- Track record of technical leadership
- Ability to explain technical concepts to people who still use flip phones
- Patience. Lots of patience.
Nice to Have
- Experience with paper-adjacent industries
- Appreciation for The Office (US)
- Ability to fix paper jams
Tech Stack
- Frontend: React, TypeScript
- Backend: Node.js, Python
- Database: PostgreSQL
- Infrastructure: AWS
- Version Control: Git
Benefits
- Competitive salary and equity
- Unlimited paper supplies
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) match
- Flexible PTO
- Home office stipend
- Free branded paper clips
Our Interview Process
- Initial recruiter chat about your paper preferences
- Technical assessment
- System design discussion
- Team fit conversation
- Final round with leadership
Location: Based in our San Francisco office, with hybrid work options. Office has windows (unlike our Scranton branch).
Dunder Mifflin is an equal opportunity employer. We don't discriminate based on paper preference, printer brand loyalty, or past experience with paper airplane construction. To apply, please submit your resume as a PDF.
