What you'll do:

The Pre-Sales Solutions Engineering organisation is responsible for the technical sale of the Cloudflare solution portfolio, ensuring maximal business value, fit-for-purpose solution design, and efficient adoption roadmaps for our customers. Within the Gaming & iGaming vertical, this means architecting infrastructures that can withstand massive DDoS attacks during global tournaments and ensuring sub-millisecond latency for real-time betting engines and multiplayer environments.

As a Solutions Engineer, you are the technical customer advocate within Cloudflare. You will aid your customers-ranging from indie game studios to global iGaming operators-and work closely with every team at Cloudflare, from Sales and Product to Engineering and Customer Support. Your goal of customer success should drive you through the entire organisation as you seek out and create scalable solutions for your customer's needs.

The Gaming industry moves at lightning speed; a broad knowledge of Internet performance and security technology is required, and the curiosity to maintain and develop new knowledge is essential to keeping up with the high rate of product innovation at Cloudflare and the evolving landscape of the gaming world.

Examples Of Desirable Skills, Knowledge And Experience:

Ultimately, you are passionate about technology and have the ability to explain complex technical concepts-like how an edge network reduces lag or how WAF rules protect a players wallet-in easy-to-understand terms. You are naturally curious, and an avid builder who is not afraid to get your hands dirty.

You appreciate the diversity of challenges in working with customers, from managing micro-burst traffic spikes to navigating the strict regulatory requirements of the iGaming sector. You will find a collaborative environment where everyone brings different strengths and jumps in to help each other obtain the technical win so that gaming customers choose Cloudflare to protect and accelerate their platforms.

Additional experience might include:

• 5-to-10 years of experience in the IT industry, with a strong preference for experience within the Gaming or iGaming ecosystems. • Vertical Expertise: Understanding the unique architecture of gaming backends, including UDP-based game protocols, real-time lobby systems, and payment gateway security for betting platforms. • Technical: • Deep understanding of TCP vs. UDP and why it matters for game state synchronization; • Ability to explain how Anycast networks and Edge Computing (Cloudflare Workers) can move game logic closer to the player; • Solid understanding of DDoS mitigation strategies at Layers 3, 4, and 7 to prevent game-play disruption. • Pre-Sales Excellence: Previous experience in a technical consulting or SE role, with a track record of demonstrating ROI to CTOs and Infrastructure Leads. • Project Management: Ability to manage complex Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and prioritize between competing demands in a fast-paced environment. • Communication: Excellent presentation skills with a strong command of business English. • Market Knowledge: Familiarity with the competitive landscape for CDN, Zero-Trust, and SASE providers specifically as they relate to high-concurrency gaming environments. • Travel: Ability to travel (10-15 days per quarter) to customer sites, industry events like ICE London or Gamescom, and internal summits. • Bonus! Scripting Skills: Demonstrated experience with JavaScript, Python, or Rust, and a desire to help customers build the next generation of serverless game features on Cloudflare Workers. • Security Trends: Exposure to emerging trends such as Zero Trust for securing internal game development pipelines or remote-work environments for studios.
