Shape the future of spaceflight — one precise build at a time
As a Senior Spacecraft Integration & Test Technician at Millennium Space Systems (a Boeing Company), your day starts on the floor: blueprint in hand, tools calibrated, and a spacecraft structure waiting for your expertise. You’ll translate preliminary designs into flight-ready hardware, orchestrate complex build sequences, and verify that every subsystem meets exacting spaceflight standards.
What you will do (a day in the life)
- Interpret preliminary design drawings, sketches, blueprints, and schematics — plus verbal/written instructions — to select optimal build and lab methods.
- Assemble and integrate spacecraft systems to tight tolerances, choosing techniques that satisfy engineering specifications.
- Operate specialized ground support equipment: hydraulic and cooling system test consoles, alignment and installation fixtures, ovens, positioners, lift equipment, cranes, and precision alignment systems.
- Plan sequences of operations; install components prior to test; perform full system leak/pressure verifications and align control surfaces.
- Handle and install fragile multi‑layer insulation (MLI) and support SLI applications on test and flight articles per specification.
- Partner with engineers/research staff to improve procedures; run assigned test stations; capture/analyze test data and produce reports, charts, and graphs.
- Earn needed certifications; perform rework and incidental related duties with minimal supervision.
- Apply deep knowledge of materials/process specs and mechanical principles; mentor peers across related classifications.
- Support range operations, including tests, integration, and hardware moves.
- Use hand and power tools expertly; measure with calipers, micrometers, and DMMs; mix epoxies; and work with assembly tooling or composites.
