Lidl US is searching for the next Senior Specialist to join our Health & Safety (Occupational Safety) team! The Senior Specialist - Health & Safety provides input/interface into the job hazard analysis processes and performs exposure monitoring as required.** PLEASE NOTE: This position is based out of our corporate headquarters in Arlington, VA, and follows a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week in-office. **What You'll DoEssential FunctionsManages projects, work processes, systems, and/or procedures to ensure efficient workflowUpdate guidelines, standard operating procedures, and instructional materialsIdentify, develop, and propose opportunities for business and process improvementSupport in national and international projects, producing business requirements, performing business system tests and technical improvementsPerform safety audits, inspections, and evaluations to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions in accordance with regulatory requirementsPerform OSHA 300 recordkeeping and interface with various departmentsInvestigate complaints and reports of unsafe or unhealthful working conditions; provide recommendations for abatement action and verify completion of abatement actionPerform on-site accident investigations as assignedProvide outreach to team members, promoting safety awareness and a positive safety attitude throughout the organization (e.g., Safety Committees)Maintain modules in Safety Management Software SystemProvide safety and health assistance to management, supervisors, employees, and collateral duty safety representativesRecommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materialsCollaborate with engineers and/or physicians to institute control or remedial measures for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions or equipmentOrder suspension of activities that pose threats to worker or customer health or safetyIdentify, develop, and propose opportunities for business and process improvementPerform other duties as assignedRequired Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesAbility to manage multiple projects and meet deadlinesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational and time management skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently with excellent follow-through skillsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related softwareKnowledge of and ability to apply principles and techniques of occupational health and safety and accident preventionWorking understanding of safety regulationsPreferred Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesOSHA Trainer - construction and or general industryServSafe TrainerAmerican Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED TrainerRequired Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related ExperienceBachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management or related field2-4 years of experience in occupational health and safety or related fieldIn lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience in related field will meet the education and related experience requirements listed abovePhysical Job RequirementsProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at timesTravel RequirementsThis position commutes between stores, regional offices and/or distribution centers more than 90% of the timeThis position requires overnight domestic travel up to 50% of the timeThis position requires overnight international travel less than 25% of the timeAnticipated travel will be by car, air, and/or trainWhat You'll ReceiveAt Lidl, we know that in order for our people to do their best, they must be at their best.
