Job Title: Senior Specimen Management TechDepartment: Blood BankLocation: Rochester General Hospital | 1425 Portland Ave. Rochester, NY 14621Hours Per Week: 40Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts, 7:30 a - 4:00 pSUMMARYThe Senior Specimen Management Tech performs the Specimen Management Technician job accurately and timely, provides leadership as the go-to person for sample issues, billing issues, and workflow, provides training as necessary to processing staff, and assists in the daily department operations when a Specimen Management Tech, Lead or Manager is not available.RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms all the duties of a Specimen Management TechnicianHas a thorough knowledge of every area of the department and is the go-to person for staffing, workflow, registration and billing issuesHas the knowledge to troubleshoot the imaging system and retrieve lost images as appropriateMay perform more in-depth training as necessaryMay prepare specimens and paperwork for transfer, testing and result reporting done at the reference labsDemonstrates commitment to the RGHS Standards of Behavior consistently-STARS-Service, Teamwork, Attitude, Respect and SafetyPerforms other duties as assignedPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and work experience2 years SMT experience in all areas of the department with increasing responsibility preferred.
