Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Splunk Engineer for a growing client in the cybersecurity/government contracting industry in the Raleigh-Durham (RTP), NC area. The Senior Splunk Engineer role requires you to sit onsite 5 days a week in RTP. The Senior Splunk Engineer role is ideal for an experienced engineer with deep expertise in Splunk architecture, backend engineering, and large-scale log aggregation environments supporting secure systems.
Responsibilities of the Senior Splunk Engineer include:
- Design, build, and maintain Splunk infrastructure, including indexers, forwarders, and search heads in secure, high-availability environments.
- Develop and optimize data onboarding pipelines, ensuring reliable ingestion and normalization of large-scale log and event data.
- Manage Splunk architecture performance, including capacity planning, scaling strategies, and system tuning.
- Implement secure configurations and maintain compliance with government and security standards.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to enhance monitoring, logging, and observability capabilities across systems.
Requirements of the Senior Splunk Engineer include:
- Active Secret Clearance is required
- 5+ years of hands-on Splunk engineering or architecture experience with a focus on backend infrastructure (not dashboarding or end-user analytics).
- Strong expertise in Splunk Enterprise architecture, including deployment, configuration, and performance optimization.
- Experience working in secure or regulated environments, preferably within government or defense sectors.
- Strong understanding of Linux systems, networking, and log management best practices.
Compensation for the Senior Splunk Engineer include:
- $140,000 - $160,000 annually

- Onsite work requirement (RTP, 5 days per week)
