Pay: $81.98–$85.19/hour

Start: November 16, 2026

Status: Contingent upon contract award and Government approval

Contract: Initial 10.5 months + four 12-month options, potentially through September 2031.  

Position Summary

SMX is seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA / SME to lead administration and support of mission-critical SQL Server environments for GPO. The role focuses on SQL Server administration, clustering, high availability, disaster recovery, performance tuning, security, backup/recovery, automation, and production support.  

Requirements

• 8+ years of database administration experience
• Advanced Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and SQL troubleshooting
• Strong SQL Server clustering, High Availability, and Disaster Recovery
• Backup, restore, and point-in-time recovery
• Performance tuning, query optimization, and execution-plan analysis
• SQL Server security, permissions, auditing, and patching
• Production incident management and root-cause analysis
• Scripting/automation, preferably PowerShell and T-SQL
• Ability to independently lead complex DBA activities 

Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, cloud databases, ServiceNow, Idera, and SolarWinds is a plus. Relevant Microsoft SQL Server, Azure, cloud, or database certifications are strongly preferred.
