As the company expands into new markets, they're creating a brand-new Senior Staff Accountant position to build and lead their accrual accounting function.This isn't a backfill. It's an opportunity to establish processes, partner directly with leadership and become the go-to accounting expert for a growing portfolio. If you're energized by creating structure, solving problems and making a visible impact, we'd love to connect.Why This Opportunity Stands OutBrand-new position with the opportunity to build the accrual accounting function from the ground up.Join a financially stable organization with plans for significant continued growth over the next several years.High visibility with executive leadership and the ability to influence accounting processes.Own your work with autonomy while collaborating with an experienced and supportive accounting team.Small-company culture where your contributions are recognized and your ideas matter.Opportunity for long-term career growth as the company continues to expand.What You'll DoOwn full-cycle accrual accounting for a portfolio of properties.Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.Manage month-end and year-end close activities.Prepare and record journal entries and accruals.Perform general ledger reconciliations and bank reconciliations.Partner with leadership to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting.Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.Assist with annual audits and maintain audit-ready documentation.Collaborate with operations and internal stakeholders to improve accounting processes as the organization grows.Help establish best practices for the company's evolving accrual accounting function.What We\'re Looking ForRequired5+ years of progressive accounting experience.Strong accrual accounting experience (cash-basis accounting alone is not sufficient).Solid understanding of GAAP.Experience preparing financial statements and managing month-end close.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently while collaborating with a close-knit team.PreferredProperty management, real estate, construction or project accounting experience.Experience supporting or leading external audits.Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting or Finance.Experience with AppFolio, Yardi, MRI, OneSite or similar property management software.QuickBooks Online experience is a plus.Who Will Thrive HereThis role is ideal for someone who enjoys building rather than maintaining.
