Senior Staff Accountant
Mercy BioAnalytics, Inc., is a biotechnology company dedicated to reducing suffering and saving lives through the early detection of cancer. We are looking for a passionate individual to join our finance team, whose mission is to help us lay the foundation for the financial infrastructure we will build as the company scales. The Senior Staff Accountant plays a key role in ensuring accurate tracking of financial data, financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting the Company's accounting operations.

Responsibilities:
Accounting and Month End Close
- Oversee all aspects of accounting, including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statement consolidation and close process
- Prepare and review financial statements, supporting schedules, and internal management reports with a high degree of accuracy
- Manage accounts payable and generate bi-weekly cash disbursements
- Prepare semi-monthly payroll
Cost Accounting and Inventory
- Assist with cost accounting activities, including inventory valuation and physical inventory counts
- Support the development and refinement of cost accounting processes as the Company scales manufacturing
Controls, Compliance, and Reporting
- Maintain and enhance accounting processes, internal controls, and documentation to ensure compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies
- Implement and maintain SOX-aligned internal controls as the Company grows and scales
- Support annual financial statement audits and tax filings by preparing required schedules and responding to auditor inquiries, including the workers compensation audit
Systems and Process Improvements
- Implement and optimize accounting systems and technology to drive efficiencies, accuracy, and scalability
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvements
Cross-Functional and Strategic Support
- Assist with the preparation of Board and Audit Committee materials
- Assist the Controller and CFO with governance matters
- Assist with treasury and tax-related activities
- Partner with cross-functional team to provide financial insights and ensure alignment across the organization
Requirements:
- Bachelor or Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA certification, active license status ideal
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in corporate or public accounting or a mix of both
- Strong and extensive knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail, integrity, and professionalism
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non‑finance partners.
- Ability to produce high-quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently and excise sound judgment
- Strong critical thinking skills, curiosity, and the ability to build relationships across the organization
- Facilitate and coordinate multiple deadlines and respond quickly to management requests
- Life science or manufacturing accounting experience preferred
