Job Title Senior Staff Aerodynamics EngineerOverview We are seeking a Senior Staff Aerodynamics Engineer to join our Aerodynamic Analysis Team. The role focuses on ensuring our autonomous aircraft performs safely and efficiently by designing aerodynamic features, creating the aerodynamic database, and conducting design trade studies.Location & Work Arrangement Hybrid work model – onsite at our Mountain View, CA office 3 days per week with flexible remote work for the remaining days.Job Type Full‑timeResponsibilities Develop and run computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models.Create and modify CFD meshes for time‑accurate, blade‑resolved models of the Gen 6 aircraft.Develop and maintain high‑fidelity models of the Gen 6 aircraft using industry best practices.Support aerodynamic shape optimization for airframe components to maximize range and minimize noise signatures.Validate CFD results against flight‑test data, wind‑tunnel experiments, and lower‑fidelity analytical tools.Requirements Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or related fields.Minimum of 12years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 8years with a master's; or a PhD with 5years; or equivalent experience.Experience with rotorcraft performance and associated propeller/rotor‑driven propulsion theory.Applied knowledge of blade‑resolved, time‑accurate CFD codes.Extensive experience with steady and unsteady RANS solvers.Experience with NASA OVERFLOW solver and associated gridding tools.Knowledge of optimization frameworks utilizing adjoint‑based methods, surrogate modeling, or similar approaches.Proficiency in scripting with Python or MATLAB.Experience with CFD analysis automation, post‑processing, and best practices.Experience matching aerodynamic databases with experimental test data and validating them against flight‑test and wind‑tunnel data.Desired Experience HELIOS computational software framework.Siemens NX CAD software.PointWise or similar meshing tools.High‑performance computing systems.Rotorcraft aeroacoustics.Salary Pay range: $193,000 – $241,000 per year.
