    Description

    This is a specialized role which requires physical interaction with hardware equipment in a simulated data center environment, utilizing Google labs, power, and safety equipment. Regular development and processing of engineering hardware must be performed on site.

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • 8 years of experience working in a hardware systems design and development technical environment.
    • 5 years of experience in technical leadership.
    • Experience with enterprise networking system development and production.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

    As a Senior Staff Hardware Engineer, you will lead the development of networking systems from initial concepts through deployment and field support. As a member of the Networking Hardware team, you will work with hardware design, mechanical design, thermal design, software, manufacturing, and field support to deliver systems which enable the overall data center network. This is a specialized role which requires physical interaction with hardware equipment in a simulated data center environment, utilizing Google labs, power, and safety equipment. Regular development and processing of engineering hardware must be performed on site.

    Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $236000 - $330000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefitsLearn more about benefits at Google.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead system and hardware design on data center networking hardware solutions.
    • Lead systems bring up and execution of engineering validation in the lab.
    • Gather requirements, define architecture, execute hardware design and product validation.
    • Work with engineering, manufacturing, product, and deployment teams to produce designs and field support.
    • Drive products from concept to production, and support products in the field.
