Talon Hiring Solutions has a client in the Birmingham, Alabama area that is looking for a full time Senior Steel Detailer to join the team. This position is for a detailer that understands structural steel, fabrication and constructibility.
What you will do:
- Prepare detailed shop and erection drawings for structural steel projects
- Detail steel for power substations, equipment supports, H-Frames, A-Frames and other heavy utility structures
- Generate accurate bills of material (BOMs)
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams
- Ensure compliance with AISC standards and project specifications
- Review and incorporate field and fabrication feedback
What you will bring:
- 5+ years of steel detailing experience
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting platforms
- Solid understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection practices
- Ability to work in-office and collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams
- Familiarity with AISC standards
- Substation or power utility detailing experience preferred but not required
- Experience with Tekla, SDS/2, or #D modeling platforms preferred but not required
