Position OverviewSenior Strategist - Strategy & Market Analysis plays a critical role within Motiva's Corporate Development & Strategy organization, supporting enterprise-wide strategic planning and decision-making. This role is responsible for delivering market intelligence, analyzing macroeconomic and industry trends, and translating complex data into actionable insights that inform investment, commercial, and operational strategies across Motiva's refining and petrochemical portfolio. This position partners closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders across Motiva and Saudi Aramco to evaluate strategic opportunities, including growth initiatives, portfolio optimization, and M&A activity.This is an in-office role based at Motiva's corporate headquarters in downtown Houston, TX. Remote participation is supported for meetings occurring outside of customary business hours.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze global and regional refining and petrochemical markets, including supply-demand dynamics, pricing trends, and competitive positioning to develop Motiva's market outlook and strategic perspectiveDevelop insights from financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support strategic decisionsSupport corporate and asset-level strategy development, including long-range planningEvaluate competitor activity, including capital investments, project developments, and M&A transactionsPrepare executive-level presentations and strategic briefings for senior leadership and Aramco stakeholdersPartner cross-functionally with Business Lines and Corporate Development to benchmark Motiva's competitive position, identify market gaps, and quantify opportunities for improvementAssess investment opportunities and portfolio optimization strategiesMonitor macroeconomic trends, energy policies, and regulatory developmentsStrengthen alignment across Saudi Aramco strategy, planning, and risk management stakeholdersSupport evaluation of strategic initiatives, including commercial ventures and capital projectsRequired Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or related field7+ years of experience in refining, petrochemical, or energy-related industriesExperience in strategy, market analysis, business development, or transaction supportStrong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insightsExperience in oil & gas, refining, or manufacturing environmentsDemonstrated strategic thinking and strong commercial awarenessIntellectual curiosity with a deep interest in energy markets and industry trendsStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly and persuasively convey ideasHigh attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skillsAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in cross-functional environmentsAdaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced, evolving industryStrong commercial acumen with a focus on accuracy and quality of workWillingness to travel (~20%, domestic and international)Preferred Education and ExperienceMBA or advanced degreeFamiliarity with industry tools (Wood Mackenzie, Rystad, Bloomberg, etc.)Knowledge of financial modeling and valuation methodologies (NPV, IRR, scenario modeling)Understanding of refining, petrochemical, or retail value chains#J-18808-Ljbffr
