An engineering services organization is seeking a Senior Structural / Civil Engineer in New York, NY to support facility-related structural and civil projects for commercial buildings and service centers. This role involves design, field assessments, inspections, and coordination on complex building and yard systems.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day shift
- Schedule: Monday through Friday (Tuesday through Thursday onsite/hybrid)
- Hours: 8-hour workday, standard business hours
- Setting: Hybrid
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and/or direct the preparation of structural and civil design packages, including specifications and drawings.
- Review contractor shop drawings and support project documentation.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses and conceptual studies to determine effective design solutions.
- Prepare or direct budgets and appropriation requests for specific projects.
- Support facility project design, operations and maintenance needs, root cause investigations, system inspections, and field assessments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of civil/structural engineering experience.
- Proven experience with the design of steel, concrete, and masonry structures.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including AISC, ACI, ASCE, and the NYC Building Code.
- Experience working directly with in-house designers and external consulting engineers.
- Demonstrated experience supporting commercial building and yard systems.
Desired Skills:
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Experience with HVAC-related structural support, roof capacity assessments, and renovation projects.
- Background in both structural and civil engineering work.
- Experience in a Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing environment.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style.
