Overview Description The Senior Structural Engineer position reports administratively to both the Studio Director and the Director of Engineering, with day-to-day task assignments by the Structural Team Leader. This position provides deep structural technical expertise, ensures quality and integration standards are met, and offers technical mentoring to others on the structural engineering team. The role independently leads structural planning, designing, engineering, and construction document production and is responsible for the overall quality of the technical output of their discipline. This individual will be involved in maintaining and growing client relationships as a structural engineering expert.Responsibilities Maintain an 80% billable expectation related to actively managing structural engineering on projects and fulfilling all the duties of an engineer.Manage multiple, simultaneous projects from conception through construction documents and submittals, with the ability to clearly communicate project objectives, problems, solutions, and scope changes with clients, field personnel, and internal staff.Collaborate with customers, partners, and colleagues to meet deadlines while delivering a quality product.Provide structural technical leadership and ensure the highest level of structural engineering services to external and internal clients.Apply, teach, and mentor others in subject matter expertise, including knowledge of building codes, regulations, materials, construction methods, and procedures for project work; manage proper sequencing of construction documents.Facilitate close work with clients, field personnel and internal staff to meet deadlines and ensure quality work; operate well in a team/collaborative setting.Manage information flow and identify ways to improve project-related processes.Maintain pride in craft; stay current and serve as a subject matter expert to identify trends and technical advances.Able and willing to stamp/seal self-produced documents.Able to work with modest supervision and guidance.Direct drafting to support structural design and organize/prioritize personal workload to meet deadlines; results-oriented and milestone-driven.Talent Development & Hiring Contribute to junior team member skill advancements via coaching and mentoring.Assist in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new structural team members.Business Development Analyze project scope and assist in authoring proposals and contracts.Nurture positive relationships with existing clients and partners through project work that supports leadership in procuring repeat client work.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Architectural/Civil Engineering from an accredited institution with emphasis or training in structural engineering for building environments.Master's degree in Civil Engineering is not mandatory but recommended.A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; SE license is a plus.Ten or more years of structural engineering experience.Experience with steel and concrete design is required; masonry and wood experience are a plus.Established track record of complete structural system design for buildings.Building types include higher education, corporate/commercial and industrial facilities; experience in one or more is preferred but not required.Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework.Demonstrated exceptional planning, analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to apply logical steps to problem solving.Able to function effectively in a demanding environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and specialized structural engineering software (e.g., RAM Software, RISA); Revit experience is preferred.The Fine Print Work is performed in an office setting and on construction sites.Physical presence in the office for a minimum of 4 days/week.Able to move around construction sites in various stages of development.Minimal travel is required, with occasional travel to other offices.Activities may be necessary outside of normal office hours depending on workload, schedules, and client locations.The base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $125,000.#J-18808-Ljbffr
