    Description

    The Building People, LLC seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to provide structural engineering services in support of government facility operations and capital projects. The Senior Structural Engineer provides expert recommendations on structural materials and systems, performs structural analyses, reviews construction documents, and develops conceptual and detailed design solutions for new construction, retrofit, and repair of existing structures. This position supports the full spectrum of structural engineering activities including load calculations, foundation design, seismic studies, blast and ballistic protection design, and construction administration.Required Experience & SkillsMinimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in structural engineering, including experience with new construction and retrofit structural designExperience providing structural recommendations, analyses, and load calculations for commercial or federal facilitiesProficiency in reviewing and developing construction documents and structural design criteriaExperience conducting feasibility and comparative systems studies and value engineering analysesDemonstrated ability to provide quality control, constructability review, and construction administration servicesKnowledge of foundation design criteria and seismic study and design methodologiesExperience with structural repair, modification, and modernization of existing structuresAll personnel must obtain and maintain a Public Trust (Level 3) security clearance.Preferred Experience & SkillsExperience with blast protection design and ballistic materials design for federal or law enforcement facilitiesFamiliarity with General Services Administration (GSA) construction and design standardsExperience performing life cycle cost analyses for federal real property assetsWorking knowledge of federal building codes and International Building Codes (IBC)Required EducationBachelor of Science (B.S.) or Master of Science (M.S.) Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university engineering programActive registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the relevant jurisdictionPreferred EducationMaster of Science (M.S.)
