Position OverviewThompson Engineering is seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead complex engineering projects and provide advanced technical direction across a diverse portfolio of work.This role carries full responsibility for technical excellence, project execution, and client engagement. The Senior Structural Engineer will define project scope, develop innovative design solutions, and guide multidisciplinary teams while acting as a trusted advisor to both internal stakeholders and clients. This position requires independent decision-making on critical technical matters and a strong ability to influence project outcomes and business growth.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the structural design and analysis of complex projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practicesServe as Engineer of Record and provide final technical review and approval of designs, calculations, and specificationsManage projects from concept through completion, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocationProvide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, designers, and technical staffCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, geotechnical, environmental, and architectural partnersEngage directly with clients to understand project goals, present solutions, and maintain long‑term relationshipsOversee preparation of design criteria, technical reports, and construction documentsEvaluate and select materials, systems, and equipment appropriate for each projectLead due diligence efforts, site assessments, and field investigations as requiredEnsure quality control processes are followed and uphold company standards for safety and performanceIdentify risks and develop proactive solutions to complex engineering challengesSupport and participate in business development efforts, including proposals, presentations, and project write‑upsContribute to strategic planning and growth initiatives within the structural engineering practiceMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's degree preferred)Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required; Structural Engineer (SE) license strongly preferred10+ years of progressive structural engineering experience, including leadership of complex projectsProven ability to manage projects, lead teams, and deliver high‑quality results on time and within budgetAdvanced knowledge of structural design codes and standards (IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, etc.)Strong communication and client‑facing skills, with the ability to influence decision‑makingPhysical RequirementsAbility to work flexible schedules, including extended hours as project demands requireAbility to sit for extended periods and perform computer‑based workAbility to conduct site visits, which may include walking, climbing, or navigating active construction environments#J-18808-Ljbffr
