Technical Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a Structural Engineer for our client in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
Job Purpose:
Provide engineering, design, calculations, analysis, drawing review, and other activities related to civil and structural engineering. Responsibilities will increase with experience. Senior-level position for a degreed engineer working without supervision (possible Department Manager position).
Essential Duties:
- Senior level position for a degreed engineer. Supervisory position responsible for review and P.E. stamping of design documents.
- Perform assignments independently using professional knowledge and abilities in support of a project team.
- Maintain a good work ethic, i.e. cooperative, hard-working, focused and aware of his responsibilities and limitations.
- Work well with other disciplines and experience levels.
- Skilled with Internet searches, excel spreadsheets, and data mining.
- Performance of calculations for site development, structural steel members and/or concrete foundations.
- Develop working knowledge of ASCE Codes and Standards, as well as ASTM and other industry standards.
- Willingness to take direction and try any assigned task.
- Prepare specifications and technical reports requiring minimal to no review.
- Able to support and direct designers.
- Perform lead engineer functions, communicate with customers, and develop cost estimates and proposals.
Education/Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- P.E. Certification Required.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
- Minimum of four (15) years of experience in the engineering field. Years of experience does not guarantee promotion to higher level. Engineering capabilities will dictate engineering level category.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
