Senior Superintendent

Position Summary

The Senior Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities from pre-construction through project completion. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with DCPS quality standards.

This position serves as the on-site leader, managing field personnel, subcontractors, and daily operations while acting as a key point of contact for project stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all phases of construction projects from mobilization through closeout
  • Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project schedules and sequencing plans
  • Coordinate field operations across subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Supervise and lead field personnel, subcontractors, and labor crews
  • Provide mentorship, training, and performance feedback to team members
  • Ensure adequate staffing and resource allocation across job sites
  • Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA standards on-site
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, site inspections, and hazard assessments
  • Maintain a safe work environment for all employees and subcontractors
  • Monitor workmanship and ensure all construction meets quality standards and code requirements
  • Perform routine quality checks and manage punch list completion
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to track budgets, control costs, and mitigate overruns
  • Identify and resolve field issues proactively to maintain schedule and margin
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors
  • Communicate project updates, risks, and progress effectively to all stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, safety logs, and progress updates
  • Ensure all inspections, permits, and regulatory requirements are met

Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years of experience in construction, with at least 5 years in a Superintendent or Senior Superintendent role
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems
  • Experience managing commercial or industrial construction projects
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with construction management software (e.g., Procore or similar)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver’s license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial projects
  • Familiarity with lean construction practices and quality control processes

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stand, walk, and navigate active construction sites for extended periods
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Work Environment

This is a field-based position requiring regular presence on active construction sites. The role involves frequent coordination with field teams and stakeholders in a fast-paced construction environment.


Compensation

Salary: $110,000 – $140,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications

Additional Information

This is an exempt position and may require travel between job sites.
