Job Title: Supervisor, Heating and Ventilation

Department: Planning & Engineering

Reports To: Chief Supervisor HVAC

Position Overview:

Under Supervision verify all heating, air conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation work requested by schools; visit school buildings to evaluate HVAC systems conditions and estimate costs of work requested; prepare specifications and estimates for performing the HVAC work and repairs; inspect and examine all work and repairs being performed on work orders or contracted services; supervise, schedule and direct work being performed within BPS Mechanical maintenance contract; approve invoices submitted for HVAC maintenance and repairs; perform related duties.

Qualifications- Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must have thorough understanding of all HVAC codes, preventive maintenance, repairs and construction practices.
  • MA 3rd Class Stationary Engineer's License, or equivalent certifications and experience.
  • Five (5) years' experience working in the design, installation, repairs and operations of HVAC systems.
  • Valid MA drivers license and reliable personal transportation.
  • City of Boston Residency.

Qualifications- Preferred:

  • BS Degree in Engineering
  • Licensed Oil Burner Technician, Refrigeration, or other HVAC related licenses or certifications.
