    Job Description

Supply Chain Manager – Medical Device Manufacturing

    Cranston, RI | Onsite

    $120,000–$140,000 | Full-Time

Are you a manufacturing supply chain leader who likes owning the whole process rather than just one piece of it?

We're recruiting a Supply Chain Manager for a growing medical device contract manufacturing operation in Cranston, RI.

This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility across production planning, purchasing, inventory, materials, customer service, shipping/receiving and supplier performance.

This isn't a strategic sourcing job disguised as a Supply Chain Manager position.

You'll lead an established team of approximately 6–8 people and serve as the site's supply chain expert—working closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality and Finance to keep a complex manufacturing operation running effectively.

The site is growing, and Supply Chain and Operations are being separated into dedicated leadership functions to give each area the attention and ownership it needs.

    What You'll Be Responsible For

    • Lead production planning and scheduling, purchasing, inventory control, materials management, customer service and shipping/receiving
    • Manage and develop a team of buyer/planners, purchasing, customer service and materials personnel
    • Translate customer demand into realistic production and material plans
    • Use ERP/MRP systems, bills of material, inventory data and production requirements to drive decisions
    • Work closely with Operations and Engineering to resolve shortages, capacity constraints and changing priorities
    • Manage supplier performance involving delivery, responsiveness, quality and continuity of supply
    • Support customers with order status, lead times, delivery commitments and changing demand
    • Improve inventory accuracy, working capital, excess and obsolete inventory, and overall materials performance
    • Support S&OP, capacity planning, new product introductions and customer launches
    • Identify supply chain risks and develop practical mitigation plans
    • Improve supply chain processes, metrics, ERP utilization and data accuracy

    What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who has actually led supply chain inside a manufacturing plant.

    You should bring:

    • 7+ years of progressive manufacturing supply chain experience
    • Leadership experience managing a supply chain, materials, planning or purchasing team
    • Strong production planning and scheduling experience
    • Hands-on knowledge of purchasing, inventory and materials management
    • Strong ERP/MRP experience
    • Working knowledge of bills of material and their relationship to planning, purchasing and production
    • Experience supporting a complex manufacturing environment with multiple components, suppliers and changing customer requirements
    • The ability to analyze problems, make recommendations and independently own supply chain decisions
    • A track record of developing people and improving team performance
    • Strong cross-functional communication skills

What Would Make You Particularly Interesting

Medical device experience would be valuable, but it isn't mandatory.

We're also interested in candidates from complex contract manufacturing and other regulated manufacturing environments such as aerospace, electronics, precision manufacturing, pharmaceutical/biotech or similarly demanding industries.

Experience with any of the following would also be valuable:

    • S&OP
    • Capacity planning
    • Inventory optimization
    • ERP/MRP process improvement
    • NPI and product launches
    • Supplier development
    • Cross-site supply chain standardization
    • APICS, CPIM or CSCP certification

    Who This Probably Isn't For

This likely isn't the right opportunity if your experience has been primarily:

    • Strategic sourcing or commodity management
    • Procurement without production planning responsibility
    • Warehousing, logistics or distribution without manufacturing supply chain ownership
    • Corporate supply chain strategy without recent plant-level execution

We're looking for someone who understands how planning, purchasing, inventory, suppliers, production and customer delivery connect—and enjoys being close enough to manufacturing to make those pieces work together.

    Why Consider It?

You'll be joining a growing medical device contract manufacturing operation with an established team already in place.

This isn't about rebuilding a failed department. It's an opportunity to develop a capable team, improve the systems around them and take genuine ownership of the site's supply chain function.

The environment is engineering-driven and data-oriented. You'll have visibility with site leadership and the autonomy to bring your supply chain expertise to the table rather than simply execute someone else's playbook.

If you're a manufacturing supply chain leader who enjoys both the details and the bigger picture, we'd like to hear from you.
