Are you a technically rigorous problem-solver who thrives on optimizing complex transportation networks? We"re seeking a Senior Supply Chain Manager to own network design and Length of Haul (LoH) optimization for Amazon"s Transfers Transportation network. You"ll drive strategies that reduce transportation costs, improve fill rates, and enhance network efficiency across one of the largest middle-mile logistics operations in the world.

In this role, you"ll combine deep analytical expertise with hands-on supply chain management to redesign how inventory moves throughout the inbound network. You"ll use data-driven insights to evaluate network topology changes and inform strategic decisions, drive cross-functional alignment on LoH reduction initiatives, and deliver measurable cost savings at multi-million dollar scale.

This is a high-visibility role that requires the ability to deep dive into data and systems, a bias for action to move fast on identified opportunities, and insatiable curiosity to learn and be curious about every facet of the transportation network.

Key job responsibilities

  • Network Design Ownership: Own the end-to-end network design strategy for Transfers Transportation - evaluating lane structures, node placements, and routing logic to minimize Length of Haul while maintaining service levels
  • Length of Haul Optimization: Build and maintain analytical models that quantify LoH drivers, identify reduction opportunities, and track savings realization across the network
  • Deep Dive Analysis:Perform root-cause analysis on network inefficiencies, leveraging SQL, Python, AI/ML tools, and data visualization to surface actionable insights from complex multi-dimensional datasets
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Planning, and Ops teams to translate network design recommendations into executable changes
  • Mechanism Development: Create scalable reporting, dashboards, and review mechanisms that provide leadership with clear visibility into network performance and LoH trends
  • Strategy Communication: Present findings, proposals, and trade-offs to senior leadership with clear narratives backed by data
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and drive process improvements, automation opportunities, and new analytical approaches - always asking "what"s next?" and pushing the boundaries of network efficiency

A day in the life

Your day will be dynamic and impactful, involving strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven problem-solving. You"ll dive into network performance analysis, develop comprehensive strategies to reduce Length of Haul, and work closely with Product, Planning, and Ops teams to implement scalable inbound transportation solutions.

About the team

We are a forward-thinking group dedicated to eliminating waste and driving efficiency through innovative product, system, and process improvements. Our team focuses on creating balanced, sustainable transportation strategies that optimize cost, speed, and environmental impact.

Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
