This position will support the sustainability efforts of Skanska USA Building. The Senior Sustainability Engineer will work with our Project Teams helping to educate them on their project responsibilities and with their focus on green building strategies systems and standards. The Senior Sustainability Engineer will work alongside the project team in assuring they are properly tracking and documenting project sustainability goals towards eventual certification-based efforts whether those be LEED WELL Living Building Challenge or other. Another key part of this role will be to lead the collection and reporting of carbon data in response to our commitment to hit milestone reduction goals in 2030 and 2045 and to coach junior Sustainability Engineers and project teams on reduction tactics. The position will also support training and research for the Green Project Solutions team and will help to train and assist in the success of the junior Sustainability Engineers.What youll do Prepare sustainability materials for monthly LEED andor Owner Architect Contractor meetings Benchmark construction related carbon emissions on projects Input data entry of preconstruction estimate quantities into embodied carbon benchmarking tool As needed provide training and assistance to junior sustainability engineers Assist sustainability managersdirectors with research and report development Create and maintain forms templates and procedures for green building certifications to help projects meet their green goals Track goals and documentation for submittal to green certification bodies Benchmark and track projects green performance for internal corporate reporting on construction projects water energy carbon waste etc. Set up and maintain filing system for green certification documentation Review documents submitted from construction projects pursuing green certification for compliance Perform data entry and date entry management in tracking spreadsheets using the information provided by project engineers Follow up with Project Engineers on questions or missing documentation Scan data entry performed by others for reasonableness and quality control Attend project meetings take notes provide guidance to teams with regard to carbon emissions benchmarking and certification Create infographics and other materials for sustainability presentations Create educational materials and organize trainings Represent Skanska as a leader in the sustainability space Help managersdirectors to develop content and facilitate project sustainability workshops and presentations for clients prospective clients and internal teams Participate in and help to coordinate charitable events and individual volunteering Assist in gathering and entering charitable giving volunteering and events data Research emerging technologies and new standards in the sustainability market.
