POSITION TITLE: Senior System Administrator
DEPARTMENT: GTO - TSG - DSDS - Dist Sys Admin
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's in Computer Science, related academic area, or equivalent experience Minimum 5 years of experience Working, conceptual knowledge all components of a modern systems infrastructure (networking concepts, the purpose of major networking protocols, security, etc.) Working knowledge of and/or scripting languages including operating system level calls Basic knowledge of SQL Demonstrated cooperative attitude and effective interpersonal and communication skills with clients, coworkers and vendors. Demonated flexibility and ability to work as a member of a team.
MAJOR DUTIES:
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues. • Provide Level 1 support for the systems and related applications. • Establish and administer change control. • Install, configure, and administer the operating system, mail system, peripheral devices, networking protocols, dial-up networking, storage devices and backup and recovery software. • Perform system administration; security, file and directory permissions, adding/deleting users, etc. • Perform software administration; vendor supplied, third-party, and licensing. • Ensure system optimization; monitor, troubleshoot and resolve performance issues as they relate to; process, CPU, memory, i/o network, and web server. • Develop backup and recovery solutions for the file system, database, and applications, and the ability to recover from each method. • Contribute to and adhere to departmental standards. • Perform task automation; batch, queuing, scheduling and system turnovers. • Assist in the research, evaluation, and purchase of future hardware platforms. • Work closely with the application teams to provide integrated planning for operating system upgrades, database upgrades, application upgrades, storage upgrades and hardware migrations. • Perform off-hours support as required. • Coordinate with the database administrator in performing long-term planning for: • database growth upgrades, operating system upgrades, capacity, and hardware migrations as well as patching for and of these respective environments.
HOURS/LOCATION: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Overtime as required) Southpointe Location (15317)
