Job Title: Senior Systems Administrator
Department: IT

General Function: The Systems Administration team is responsible for the IT server and computer system infrastructure across the enterprise including Hy-Vee's retail, corporate, subsidiary, distribution, and manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will excel at obtaining results in a fast-paced environment, have excellent problem solving and communication skills, and can connect technology to real-world business challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Administers and maintains Windows servers operating on physical infrastructure or VMware and Hyper-V hypervisors.
- Maintains highly available solutions for on-premises datacenter workloads.
- Encourages automation by leveraging PowerShell and or other scripting languages.
- Administers and maintains storage, backups, and replication.
- Creates and maintains technical documentation stored within the team's knowledge base.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience administering Windows Server technologies (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, Clustering, PKI)
- Extensive experience with VMware or Hyper-V hypervisors
- Extensive experience with enterprise datacenter storage and compute technologies such as Pure Storage, NetApp, Cisco UCS, and Fiber Channel.
- Experience with troubleshooting applications and preventative maintenance.
- Understanding of monitoring tools such as NAGIOS.
- Understanding of the network stack.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, or other scripting languages.
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT
Education and Experience:
- A degree in MIS, Computer Science, or equivalent technical field from an accredited university or equivalent work experience (5+ years) is required.
Physical Requirements
- Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
- Visual requirements include clarity of vision at 20 inches or less up to 20 feet or more with or without correction; and color vision.
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
